Emotional Competence Intelligence Course

By the end of this course, the student should be able to 

1. recognize emotional states and their causes, 

2. successfully manage emotional impulses to work effectively with people from diverse cultures, and 

3. effectively utilize emotional intelligence to improve performance at the workplace.

This course has three main lessons with topics. 

Lesson 1 has three topics and will introduce emotional intelligence. 

Lesson 2 has three topics, and it will discuss the importance of emotional intelligence. 

Lesson 3 has four topics and will discuss the ways that the student can develop emotional intelligence.

By the end of this course, the learner should be able to: 

1. Recognize emotional states and their causes. 

2. Manage emotional impulses successfully to work effectively with people from diverse cultures. 

3. Utilize effectively emotional intelligence to improve performance at the workplace. 

Lesson 1

This lesson has three topics which are 1.definitions of emotional intelligence, 2. aspects of emotional intelligence, 3. domains of emotional intelligence. The first topic will introduce the learner to the different definitions of emotional intelligence. The second topic will expose the learner to the aspects of emotional intelligence present in the achievement of an organization’s goals. The last item of this lesson provides knowledge to the learner about the domains of emotional intelligence, which are part of the psychological intelligence model which is based on the two primary competencies. At the end of this lesson, the learner should recognize emotional states and their causes. 

Lesson 2

This lesson also has two topics which are 1. the importance of emotional intelligence at work, 2. importance of considering cultural differences in the application of emotional intelligence and factors in recognizing the needs of others at the workplace. The first topic will help the learner be aware of why it’s essential to be emotionally intelligent at work. The second topic will introduce the learner to different cultures and how to be emotionally intelligent to people from different cultures. The last issue of this lesson will enable the learner to recognize the needs of others emotionally at the workplace. At the end of this lesson, the learner should be able to successfully manage emotional impulses to work effectively with people from diverse cultures. 

Lesson 3

Lesson three, which is the last lesson, has four topics which include 1. traits of low personal confidence, 2. characteristics of individuals with high emotional intelligence, 3. demonstrating initiative at the workplace, 4. methods of developing emotional intelligence. The first topic exposes the learner to the various traits that people with low personal confidence portray, while the second topic deals with the characteristics that are expressed by people with high levels of emotional intelligence. The third topic deals with how the learner can demonstrate initiative while carrying out his or her duties at the workplace. The last item of the lesson will help the learner to develop emotional intelligence at the workplace. At the end of this lesson, the learner should be able to utilize emotional intelligence effectively to improve performance at the workplace.
